Mexican Folktale Chapter Breaks
Created with the loose theme of “four seasons,” this set of four illustrations highlights the diversity of folktale creatures tied to Mexican culture. The illustrations focus on four distinct and well known creatures—La Nahuala, La Llorona, El Charro Negro, and El Chupacabra—each chosen for their respective season based on what best fit their narrative. The color palettes were also chosen as a visual representation of each season, summer keeping with lots of reds, spring with greens and pinks, fall with orange, yellows and browns, and winter keeping to blues and purples.
