Loongche is a fusion restaurant created by Alejandro Cruz Mendoza and Mei Liu—two people whose cultural identity marks an important aspect of their character—this shared passion leads to the pair blending their backgrounds together, creating a space that reflects a dialogue between the owner’s cultural roots and passion for innovation through thoughtful culinary experimentation. The restaurant branding was created on the theme of “equivalents” within these two distinct cultures, as such, the restaurant logo features both a loong and kukulklan—two similar deity-like mythological creatures stemming from either culture.
